He chose this song because of how strong Sam Smith is with their personal image and confidence, the vulnerability shown within the song by addressing a previous lovers real intent, and because he and his mother bonded over their love of the song.
Before LSNSIO was even conceived as a possibility, Jvneav performed “Palace” at the Spaghetti Party Open Mic Night in Hagerstown MD. He has always felt a strong connection to the song and his rendition that night brought multiple audience members to tears. He tried to replicate this performance in the official recording on the album and the emotion is definitely there.
