Liability

“Liability” is the 8th song on Love Stories Never Start in October by Jvneav. The song, originally performed by Lorde, is about the abandonment after being let go from a potential lover and the inevitable self-loathing that occurs afterwards.

Jvneav chose Liability first when deciding what songs to place on this album. He’s been performing it for years because of how strongly he connects to the message of feeling like to much for all the people around him. One of his most noteable performances of Liability was the 6th Spaghetti Party hosted by Flo Petite in Hagerstown MD. It was at this performance he decided to place the song on the album because most of people in the room came up to him afterwards to tell him how his version of the song resonated with them. At this performance, he was beginning to get the feeling of abandonment from his current (now ex) boyfriend and decided to add the song to the set list at the last second before performing. He has always looked up to Lorde as a songwriting mentor who stays completely herself and works at her own pace to create her art- not just for the commercial gain. That’s exactly what he wants to do (and part of the reason why he is focusing on releasing covers instead of originals currently.)
